Ernest Vitin
Ernest Vitin stands as the sole artist in the Baltic States and one of the select few globally dedicated to the exclusive and professional practice of the layered glass technique. His focus extends to crafting remarkable, large-scale architectural sculptures and monumental pieces, as well as functional objects utilizing the stacked glass technique.
Employing a proprietary treatment method developed in-house, Vitin ensures the longevity of his work in diverse climate conditions while highlighting the intrinsic qualities of glass—its purity, radiance, and permanence.
In the contemporary urban landscape dominated by steel and glass structures, and the prevalence of expansive country house windows, glass has emerged as a prominent medium of adornment. Under the visionary guidance of artist Ernest Vitin, our studio produces bespoke, handcrafted monumental and architectural glass sculptures, along with functional design objects that add aesthetic perfection to any interior or exterior space.
Ernest Vitin, born in 1984, specializes in monumental sheet glass stacking, also known as the layered glass technique. With over a decade of experience, he is among the select artists globally exclusively dedicated to this art form. In addition to commissioned projects, Vitin participates in international group exhibitions and solo shows. His solo exhibition, “Within the Glass Labyrinth,” earned him the national “Kilogram of Culture 2019” award in the visual arts category, and he has received nominations for the annual Latvian Academy of Arts award twice.
Recognized for his expertise, Vitin was invited to present at the annual Scientific Conference of the Art Academy of Latvia in 2022, where he discussed practical aspects of monumental layered glass art-making. Notably, he has crafted the largest sculptural ensemble of glass art in the Baltics, titled “In Nature,” displayed in the foyer of the Nature House at the Academic Center of the University of Latvia. Vitin continues to contribute to public spaces with monumental glass design commissions for indoor and landscape settings.
