Alia Vitae
Alia Vitae means other lives in Latin.
Alia Vitae breathes new life into iconic, evocative or little-known creations of French design. Creations whose innovation and singularity have marked an era, a style, a taste. Creations that refer to memory as well as emotion, and whose aura, while remaining intact, still emanates in our contemporary interiors.
Alia Vitae has chosen to reissue and revisit these design pieces, selected by the founding duo, in order to reveal their influence and charisma. Lighting, decorative objects, furniture, tableware... these iconic creations deserve for Alia Vitae to be rediscovered and inscribed in a new temporality.
Between homage and modernization, Alia Vitae favors French artisanal manufacturing and the use of respectful materials. Each piece requires a long work of research and experimentation to be as close as possible to the intention and the initial technique. The material thus revalued, is also the opportunity for Alia Vitae to propose to contemporary designers and architects like André Cazenave , a correspondence, a dialogue. Each project gives rise to a carte blanche, the opportunity to propose a new interpretation of a material with strong potential.
ABOUT THE FOUNDERS
Childhood friends, Emma Demuynck, a design expert for auction houses, and Julien Borisov, combined their common affinities for art and design to found Alia Vitae at the age of 24. While Emma has a contextual vision of design, Julien likes to develop stories through images and contact with artisans. Their historical and creative approaches complement each other to breathe new life into iconic design pieces with a fresh perspective.
